It’s hard to believe that summer is almost here. Our Windermere agents have had a hopping Spring promoting and supporting the communities they work in – not to mention all the listing and selling! From San Diego to Indio, our Windermere agents have hosted, benefited, auctioned, crafted, modeled and remodeled for local non-profits and organizations throughout Southern California. Now that we look back, it has been a busy season all around. We thought we’d share some of the highlights from the fantastic events and great causes our agents have been busy supporting.
Having a Hopping Good Time with Windermere
Once again this year, agents from our La Quinta and Old Town La Quinta offices hosted the annual Easter Egg Hunt at La Quinta Park. As a City Sponsor, Windermere hosted the egg hunt and chalk drawing, which drew hundreds to the park on Saturday, March 30th. Local TV station anchor and morning news producer Gloria Rodriguez from KMIR-6 was a gracious emcee and guest judge for the event. Windermere awarded multiple prizes in a range of age categories with a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny himself.
Indio and Coachella
Just a few miles east, Windermere agents from the Indio office hosted Easter Egg Hunts in Indio and Coachella in partnership with the Desert Recreation District. Hundreds of families and children attended the two events held at Coachella’s Veteran’s Park and the Indio Community Center Park. In addition to hosting the hunt, Windermere agents passed out balloons to the children and sponsored a coloring contest with prizes given in multiple age groups.
Windermere Agent Keeps Art Alive in San Diego
During the 32nd annual Art Alive exhibition in Balboa Park, 103 floral designers presented exquisite floral interpretations of famous works of art. As the San Diego Museum of Art’s signature fundraiser, Art Alive 2013 brings the Museum’s Permanent Collection to life in a unique and beautiful way, including vibrant displays of color, texture and shape. In addition to three full days of activities and celebrations, Art Alive 2013 Rotunda Designer Bella Meyer, granddaughter of artist Marc Chagall and founder and creative director for FleursBella Beautifiers in New York City, transformed the Rotunda into a breathtaking floral experience for visitors as they entered the building.
Apua Garbutt from Windermere’s La Mesa Village office participated in the event for the 13th year in a row. Apua used fan palms, Chinese mums, lotus pods and horse tail water stalks that resemble bamboo to craft her floral interpretation of an exquisite, hand-carved Chinese Buddha.

Happy Birthday, La Quinta!
Agents from Windermere’s La Quinta and Old Town La Quinta returned to the Civic Center Park this year to help celebrate the 31st birthday of the City of La Quinta. As a city sponsor, Windermere Real Estate Southern California hosted a booth, handed out balloons and ran a putting green activity for the kids. It’s never too early to get them on the green!
FORE! a RAAD Event in San Diego
Despite the rain, North San Diego County Association of Realtors® members enjoyed a day of golf at the Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista. The event was a benefit fundraiser for RAAD, Realtors & Affiliates Against Drugs, who donates funds to local schools and organizations to support anti-drug and anti-substance abuse programs for children.
Windermere Solana Beach’s Eva Marshall and Karin Vaessen of SoCal Beach Property, Inc. braved the day’s drizzle to finish off their round.
Hitting the Green with California Desert Associate of Realtors
As a platinum sponsor and 5th Hole host, Windermere once again sent a fabulous foursome to CDAR’s Annual Golf Tournament to benefit their CDAR scholarship fund and First Tee of the Coachella Valley. Hosted this year at the Bermuda Dunes Country Club, Michael Fogarty, Bev Howard (pictured), Diane Pennington and Jay Starr (pictured) played through the course and made it to the auction tables on time!
Spring Fling Time in Palm Springs
Our Palm Springs agents had a blast at the Palm Springs Regional Association of Realtors’ Spring Fling at the Mizell Center. The fundraising auction raised money for 5 local charities, including Boys and Girls Club of Cathedral City and Well in the Desert. Nancy Steinfeldt from Windermere Real Estate Palm Springs Midtown (pictured) headed Windermere’s committee with additional basket contributions by Denise Anderson.
Fashion Minded with the Women’s Council of Realtors, Desert Cities
Janine Stevens from Windermere’s La Quinta office and Karen Stearns of Windermere’s Palm Springs Midtown hit the runway for the Palm Springs / Desert Cities Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS’s 5th Annual Fashion Show held at the Indian Wells Country Club. Janine walked the runway with her mother, Bubbles Gioia from Windermere’s Old Town La Quinta office, while Karen was escorted down the catwalk by her grandson. A nice touch to start off Mother’s Day weekend!
Windermere La Mesa Agents Give a Helping Hand
Over 100 Realtors and affiliates from Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS® converged on a home in La Mesa that needed help to bring it up to code. Windermere SoCal was a donating sponsor, and agents from our La Mesa and La Mesa Village office shoveled, tore, hauled and hammered their way through the weekend. The Helping Hand’s Committee Chair (and Windermere Branch Manager) Carey Guthrie reported the event was a tremendous success.
