The Orlandos are a unique family real estate team. For over 25 years, Maryann Orlando has been representing buyers and sellers in Orange County where she has earned a reputation for her integrity and vast understanding of the local real estate market. After graduating from Santa Margarita High School, he attended California State Northridge where he earned his degree in Communication Studies. An obvious asset to working in sales and interacting with his clients, Greg conveyed his education into a career as a Realtor® and returned to coach football at his alma mater, Santa Margarita. His work in coaching and communications goes a long way to enabling his clients to refine, set and achieve their real estate goals. Greg, his wife and daughter now live in Mission Viejo.

As Director, Sari negotiated multimillion dollar contracts, handled numerous vendor relations, and ensured that the company got top value for their purchases – all skills that she easily transitioned into assisting her real estate clients. Sari, her husband, and their two sons now live in Beacon Hill.

At a recent marketing meeting with the Orlandos, the trade talk was fast and furious. From developing client’s searching parameters to a discussion of the record low inventory, you would not have gotten the impression that this was a family meeting. Each member brings their unique set of skills, knowledge and experience to the table. When asked if this was how the holiday meal conversations usually went, the answer was a resounding and unanimous, “No!”

“It would drive our spouses and other family members crazy,” said Sari. “We could talk ‘shop’ all day if we were allowed, but you have to make quality time for your family.
Las Flores Elementary State Fair Fundraiser
This dynamic family is not only a powerhouse selling force, but a huge sponsor of the Las Flores and Rancho Santa Margarita communities. The Orlandos have been contributing stories to their local community newsletters, sponsoring and hosting events for the annual summer Ledgewood Street party, Las Flores homeowners association and Las Flores Elementary School for years now. They are firmly planted in this community and it shows.

Windermere Real Estate SoCal was honored to receive a visit yesterday from Congresswoman Susan Davis, representing California’s 53rd Congressional District, at our La Mesa office. Our friends at La Mesa Today were kind enough to share their coverage, photos and a YouTube video from the visit. Congresswoman Davis spoke with Windermere SoCal co-owner Bob Deville about the current state and recovery of the housing market.
LA MESA — Congresswoman Susan Davis spent much of the day Wednesday visiting La Mesa constituents, gauging the economy and discussing issues with local business leaders.
Accompanied by La Mesa Chamber Executive Director Mary England, democrat Davis visited Carl Burger Dodge, Jejoni Signs and met with the owners and managers of Windermere Real Estate at their Allison Avenue offices.
Accompanied by Daniel Hazard, her San Diego field officer director, Davis has been getting to know her new, far-flung district better while hearing about the specific concerns business owners wanted to put on the table.
Windermere’s principal owner Bob Deville was quick to bring real estate’s greatest concern up: the mortgage tax deduction.
“It would be terrible to do away with that,” Deville said. Tax reformers and flat tax proponents have talked about eliminating the mortgage tax deduction, which Realtors, just recovering from the worst market since the Great Depression, believe would undermine demand for homeownership.
Davis told Deville she didn’t see, even if tax reform is taken up, that there would be a consensus in Congress for touching the mortgage deduction. It is, she said, central to the needs of Middle Class families still digging out from the recession.
Otherwise, the realtors told Davis things were improving quickly in the housing market though they recommended needed tweaks to the regulation of new home loans (see video below) which have made it more costly and too difficult for some qualified homeowners to enter the housing market. Realtors also suggested changes to the reverse mortgage financing.
“But overall everything is moving in the right direction,” said Kirk Gregor, Windermere’s director of office development. “The real problem is inventory. Every deal has five or six offers. But that has stabalized things and homeowners are starting to see real equity return to their homes. That’s a good thing.”
The Windermere staff presented Davis with a number of La Mesa gifts and toured her through their offices, which the company built out of a vacant bank facility.

Windermere Carlsbad Supports Friends of the Women’s Resource Center
February kicked off with the Have a Heart for a Child event benefiting the Friends of the Women’s Resource Center in Oceanside. Held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Carlsbad, the event raised thousands of dollars in support of the Center which provides shelter and transitional housing for women and children. Windermere was proud to be a sponsor for a second year. Katie Alfrey, Windermere agent, and Brent Consedine, Managing Broker for Windermere’s Carlbad and Solana Beach offices attended the event which included a silent auction.

Two speakers addressed the 150+ event attendees, which included City Council members of Oceanside and Carlsbad. Both speakers related their first-hand experiences of the benefits of the shelter and transitional housing. The monies raised will be used to provide educational and cultural opportunities, including field trips to the local Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, plays, school supplies, counseling and assistance revamping the playroom and playground at the shelter. The Windermere Foundation has granted money bi-annually to the Family YMCA of the Desert since their Windermere Kids at the Y program began in 2006.

Event attendees were delighted by the entertaining skits and moved by the compelling stories shared by YMCA staff members, who were once beneficiaries of the Y’s incredible programs.

Windermere’s Palm Springs Agents Top Earners for Board Charities

Agents from Windermere’s Palm Springs offices were awarded the “Top Earner” award for raising the most money for the charities supported by the Palm Springs Regional Association of Realtors at their annual Valentine’s event. A committee of agents spearheaded by Ronnie Starr of Windermere’s Palm Springs Midtown office gathered auction baskets and baked goods for the event, contributing $1,800 of the $3,000 raised.
Windermere Chauffeurs the Home Tour
The Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert held their Annual 2013 Discovery Home Tour during February, and Windermere was there again this year to make it a smooth ride! For many years now, Windermere has donated the use of our commercial driver and the Windermere Bus, normally used for agent and office caravans, for the Museum’s tour of homes fundraiser. Windermere’s Greg Wootan graciously chauffeured event attendees to each stop on the tour and then returned attendees to the Museum in Rancho Mirage.

Having successfully operated his own brokerage that expanded to three offices in Northern California, Don relocated to the Coachella Valley in 1991 where he began to aggressively market real estate. Mark joined his father in 1997 and brought his technical skills to the business with a vision of expansion. Mark focuses his efforts in golf resort and vacation homes. This family team is known for dominating a large portion of the PGA West market, consistently performing as a top-producing team.
