Each year, Windermere agents throughout the Western United States celebrate Windermere’s Community Service Day by initiating and supporting local projects benefiting the communities where they live, work and play. For their 2012 Windermere Community Service Day event, Coachella Valley Windermere agents have again chosen to support the volunteer Nightingale Society of the Visiting Nurse Association of California. Now in its eighth year, the VNA ‘Fan Club’ partners with senior centers across the Coachella Valley to distribute fans and portable coolers to the desert’s ill, injured and hospice patients. For last July’s Windermere Community Service Day, Windermere agents contributed more than 250 fans to the Nightingale Society drive.
“We are delighted to again support the VNA with this worthy cause,” noted Charlie White, Managing Broker, Windermere Indian Wells offices. “The summer temperatures take a toll on everyone, but the heat imposes an extra burden on those who are recovering from an illness or otherwise not at 100% strength.” For “2012 Windermere Fans for Life,” each of Windermere’s 16 Coachella Valley offices is currently collecting new electric fans of all styles: table-top, oscillating, floor stand, window and box fans to help our desert’s in-need neighbors to stay cool and comfortable during the summer months. Tuesday, July 10, has been designated as the date for each office to deliver its collected fans. Members of the public who would like to contribute in support of this important cause are invited to drop off all styles and sizes of fans (in original packaging) to any of the Windermere Coachella Valley offices prior to Tuesday, July 10. Contributions of fans are tax-deductible and receipts are available.

Windermere’s Cathedral City office, located at 68-828 Ramon Road, is pleased to welcome its newest agents, Ricardo Nuno and Jessica Oertel.
Ricardo Nuno brings over 14 years of Southern California real estate experience to his Windermere clients. SFR (Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource) certified, he specializes in REOs (bank owned), short sales, and income properties. The REO/Short Sale category is a substantial segment of the Coachella Valley real estate market, and working with REO/Short Sale Buyers brings Ricardo a deep satisfaction gained from helping families purchase their own home, frequently for the first time. His client base is supported by repeat Buyers and Sellers and referrals from his satisfied clients. What keeps them coming back? “They appreciate my dedication, integrity, and professionalism. I bring my very best to every transaction. That’s my trademark.”
Jessica Oertel, with over 20 years in customer service and sales experience, has been serving her real estate clients for over a decade. Jessica brings the strength and dedication gained from her earlier career in fitness instruction, with 6 certifications (Kids, Aqua, Zumba, Circuit, Elderly, and Toning). With real estate, she feels she has truly found her niche. “Real estate gives me the opportunity to represent those new to the English language, and to help build foundations for new and growing families,” she says. “We work together to find the best living situations for their needs, and they know I will go that extra mile for them.” Jessica’s motto: I will put you FIRST!
Windermere Real Estate is gearing up for a very busy summer. While many Coachella Valley real estate companies and agents routinely reduce summer hours or take the season off, Windermere agents and offices are continuing at the same record-breaking pace that propelled the company to reach nearly $1.5 billion in sales last year. Interest in Coachella Valley residential properties has built over the last years. That is just one part of the reason for the level of activity the company continues to enjoy. Savvy real estate shoppers are more aware than ever of the value in today’s desert market; add to that the range of highly desirable Coachella Valley lifestyles, and it’s easy to understand what is driving the business. “Windermere Southern California is now in its second decade in the Coachella Valley,” says Bob Deville, co-owner. “We offer an ideal combination of full-time, professional real estate agents, financing and related products, and a legendary customer service that continues to be the standard for the industry.” With 16 Windermere offices spanning the Coachella Valley as well as offices serving the Southern California coast, Windermere’s clients have access to nearly 1,000 licensed Realtors® offering a complete range of residential, commercial and leasing services for Buyers and Sellers. Windermere’s John Veytia has been recognized by the Honorable Tom Harman, 35th Senatorial District, with a Resolution for his very impressive 50 years in California real estate. John, a Broker Associate and Premier Properties Director with Windermere Real Estate’s Laguna Beach office, located at 32351 Coast Highway, began his real estate training at the young age of 19, receiving his first sales license and joining the Northeast Board of Realtors® of Los Angeles on April 3, 1962. Nine years later, he relocated to Laguna Beach where he continues to serve a loyal clientele. John’s record of industry accomplishments includes real estate appraiser and real estate instructor, as well as an admirable roster of civic contributions including soccer coach and Cub Scout leader.
Member Resolution No. 521 concludes thusly:
“Resolved by Senator Tom Harman, that, on the occasion of his fiftieth anniversary of service as a real estate professional, John Veytia be commended for a lifetime of achievements and meritorious service to the community, and conveys to him best wishes that his indomitable efforts will continue in the years ahead.”
John shows no signs of resting on his laurels, or anything else. In addition to his successful real estate business, he is currently training for the 2012 London Olympics, where he will represent the United States in the high jump competition.
Congratulations on ALL your accomplishments, John, and best wishes for 50 more years!
Windermere agents are known throughout the realm as passionate about not only helping their clients buy and sell properties, but also about supporting their communities financially and with their time and effort. Karen Stearns, agent with Windermere’s Palm Springs Midtown office at 1255 E. Ramon Road, wears her heart on her sleeve, working the catwalk with the Women’s Council of Realtors® Fashion Show Fundraiser, “Morning to Midnight.” Windermere Southern California was a Bronze Sponsor of the event, which took place Friday, May 11 at the Indian Wells Country Club.
The Women’s Council of Realtors® is a nationwide community of 16,000 real estate professionals consisting of many of the best and brightest in the business. The backbone of WCR is its network of more than 300 local and state chapters with volunteer managers trained to position their groups as a business resource in their REALTOR® communities. “The Fashion Show Fundraiser allows us to continue to stay a part of this wonderful organization,” says Karen, “by sending the volunteer leaders to the different state and national conferences, scholarship donations, and many other local and state events that better the lives of all Realtors®.”
Windermere’s support of the event was not limited to its financial contribution; included among the appreciative audience were Windermere Indian Wells Agents Camille Pfeifer, Sybill Allen and Pat Wang; Windermere Indian Wells Managing Broker Charlie White; Windermere Old Town La Quinta Agent Jan Pitman, and Annette Eustice, SoCal Direct Lending.
Windermere La Mesa Village Realtor® Nicole Saltzman got some pretty cool TV time last week. One of her listings is one of the stars of an ABC Channel 10 News clip discussing the San Diego housing market (click here to view the news clip), which is clearly experiencing a newsworthy upswing. As this clip notes, plenty of buyers are looking at these exceptional values, but savvy shopping and careful timing is getting more important. Multiple offers are beginning to move prices up, including an example shown here where more than 40 bids on the same property led to a sales price 22% higher than the original asking price.
The story does, of course, have a happy ending: You can still buy your little piece of Southern California Coastal heaven…there’s just a little more competition out there now.
All the more reason to have a Windermere agent at your side.
Windermere Real Estate, roaring into its second decade in the Coachella Valley, takes this opportunity to salute its debut desert location at 850 N. Palm Canyon Drive. Dedicated in November 2001, in the early days of the desert’s burgeoning real estate market, the office was an immediate success. Windermere Coachella Valley co-owners Bob Bennion and Bob Deville, highly successful market leaders with Windermere’s Seattle offices, saw unlimited potential in bringing their personalized brand of the Windermere legacy with its leading edge tools and exceptional customer service to the Valley’s Buyers and Sellers. “It was a little scary,” remembers Bob Deville. “We were making a huge leap of faith putting so much of ourselves into an entirely different geographic market, but we’ve always loved this region of Southern California, and we knew even then that we had a lot to offer.” Originally the office/showroom of iconic Palm Springs designer Arthur Elrod, the Palm Springs Main office retains its distinctive mid-century style, welcoming clients through its 15’ doors 7 days a week. Visitors are captivated by the floor-to-ceiling mineral oil waterfall, creating a unique focal point and soothing atmosphere. David Cantwell, the first and current Managing Broker for the office, provides oversight and guidance to 90 Palm Springs Realtors®. Later joining Windermere’s Palm Springs Main office were sister offices Palm Springs South (2465 E. Palm Canyon Suite 605 in the Jensen’s Shopping Center) and Palm Springs Midtown (1255 E. Ramon Road). Today, Windermere Coachella Valley offers 16 offices providing full real estate services from more than 800 licensed, professional agents. The company’s broad diversity matches the Coachella Valley itself: what every Windermere office and agent offers to their clients, regardless of market category, is an exceptionally satisfying and successful real estate experience.
